Published: 23 January 2021

The figure reports the number of SARS-CoV-2 genomic sequences available from INSDC databases. Only countries for which 50 or more genomes are available are represented.

The X axis represents the number of genomes. To facilitate the comparison data is log(10) scaled and sorted in descending order, from the country with the highest value to the country with the lowest value. The number of genomes sequenced by each country is represented by the bars. The text in red indicates the values represented in the graph.

This figure provides an overview of the number of SARS-CoV-2 genomes available from from INSDC databases, for different countries.Comparing it with the matched graph for GISAID (see corresponding highlight), should provide an overview of the completeness and accuracy of the data available at different specialized databases for genomic data. One of the most ambitious objectives of this portal is to improve the integration of the information and data stored in different resources and databases. In addition to offering a snapshot of the number of SARS-CoV-2 genomes that are currently available, this monthly report aims to monitor the effectiveness of the actions undertaken by the data portal to make available data more homogeneous and complete.
